There are many good places to eat in Kissimmee and the surrounding areas. Walt Disney World hosts a great array of restaurants, both counter service and full service but closer to our home there are many good choices. Here are a few we have tried but also some that are still on our list to visit.
Romano's Macaroni Grill
The closest one is found between markers 10 & 11 on the 192. Good Italian style family dining - the pasta and pizza are first class & they also have a very impressive wine list. (Our kids love the fact that they can draw all over the table cloth and really enjoy the meatballs!)
Red Lobster
This is part of the Olive Garden group and the nearest one is found only a mile away on the 192 between markers 15 & 16 (just opposite Osceola Square Mall). Lobster is the speciality but they also serve steak, chicken, salads and pastas.
Market Street Cafe
This cafe is located in the heart of Celebration Town and brings back the feeling of 1950's & 1960's diners. Open for breakfast, lunch & dinner there are over 60 items on the menu - including fabulous omelettes and sandwiches - all made fresh every day. We only found this place on our last visit and just loved it.
Outback Steakhouse
There are quite a few Outback Steakhouses in the Kissimmee area (including in the airport) but the closest is only 2 mins away east on the 192. Great value.
International House of Pancakes (IHOP)
This is a great place for a filling breakfast before a day at the parks. There are numerous outlets around with 2 on the 192. Our favourite breakfast is the 'Vive La French Toast' and the kids enjoy the kids 'Rooty Tooty' both certainly set you up for the day!
Carrabba's
This is another good quality Italian with one on Vineland Ave and another at Formosa Gardens on the 192. Carrabba's comes directly from Sicily with a casual but elegant dining. Specialities include interesting pasta dishes and handmade pizzas.
Sweet Tomatoes
Located on I-Drive by the Kirkman Road Junction this salad buffet restaurant offers great value for money. It offers an all-you-can-eat choice including salads, pastas, breads, soups, pastries, fruit and ice-cream. (We love this place and so do many locals).
Bahama Breeze
These caribbean themed restaurants include outdoor patio bars with live music and are very popular with the locals. There are 2 in the Kissimme area - one on International Drive and the other on Vineland Ave. Great food, entertaining and well worth just popping in for a drink. It can get busy and you may have to wait for a table as they do draw the crowds.
Cracker Barrel - good breakfast!
Smokey Bones BBQ & Grill - superb BBQ selection and great burgers!
There are so many more restaurants that we haven't tried yet. Here are a few that have been recommended but as yet we have not eaten in them.
Boston Lobster Feast
You will find this on the 192 between markers 8 & 9 and is the place for a real blow out with an unlimited lobster and seafood buffet. This has been recommended to us but is still on our list of places still to visit.
Panera Bread - another one good for breakfast
Cafe Tu Tu Tango - high on style & cuisine
Steak'n'shake - good fun burger & milkshake
Key W Kools - good open pit grill (192 near marker 4)
Tony Romas - famous for it's ribs
This list could be never ending - there will be something to suit every taste. A great reference book is A Brit's Guide to Orlando & Walt Disney World by Simon & Susan Veness
